The sample is the cheapest insurance in custom manufacturing. Here's how the three sample types work, what they cost (and when that cost comes back), and how the sample protects your bulk order.
Custom bag samples come in three types: a reference sample of a shelf style as-is at USD 10–30 plus shipping, a branded or modified sample of a shelf style at USD 30–300, and a matched sample built to a physical sample, a complete tech pack, or a style already on the market that you show us, also USD 30–300 by size and complexity. All three are refunded against the bulk order, and reduced for long-term clients. Making a sample typically takes one to two weeks plus courier time, and the approved sample becomes the quality standard your bulk goods are checked against.

Your approved pre-production sample is the control copy: fabric, stitching, hardware, logo position. Bulk inspection means comparing goods against it — disagreements become checkable facts, not opinions.
You get detailed photos/video of the sample first, so obvious revisions happen before courier fees, not after.

One of four starting points, plus your first-order quantity and target price:
1. A style code from our 229 ready-made styles, with the changes you want to dimensions, fabric, pockets, hardware or trim.
2. A photo of a style already on the market — we match it to the closest pattern we hold, or build the pattern for it. Add the target size and the material you have in mind and the quote gets sharper.
3. A physical sample posted to us, which we open up and match.
4. A complete tech pack: dimensioned flats, a bill of materials, construction callouts and logo artwork.
